Find a Job That Suits Your Family
One of the hardest things when it comes to being a single
mother is finding a job that suits your circumstances and the kids. This will probably NOT be the most ideal or
lavish job. Obviously one of the best jobs would be where you could work from
home. This then gives you the flexibility of being able to schedule the
children as relaxed as possible. One of
the advantages as well with working from home is that when the children have
school holidays etc. you are there and don’t have to negotiate with your boss
for time off.
The Need for "Me" Time
The need for time alone without someone calling your name or
asking for something is important. It is
not always about going out with friends, it could be sitting down and reading
or taking the time to have your nails or hair done but all essential to making
you feel good inside and thus this will put a smile and a glow on your
face. Utilizing the time when the kids
are at their friends or possible the other parent is imperative. This is a like a tonic for your stress
levels.
Controlling the Stress Levels
When things happen that are beyond your control, then this
is not your fault and you should not let your stress levels rise. The worst one is when the other parent lets you
and the children down, taking long deep breathes is sometimes the key to
keeping the blood pressure level to a stable reading.
At All Times Try Not To Lose Your Temper
Everyone loses their temper at some time or the other but
when you are single parent it seems to happen a little too often at times. This is understandable with the pressure
that you have to contend with on a daily basis but you should try to refrain
from yelling at the kids. The littlest
thing sometimes seems like the end of the world, but your relationship with
your kids is worth so much more than a screaming match. Sitting calmly and discussing the issues is
more beneficial.
Getting Your Kids to Behave Responsibility
Responsibility is one of those things that we all install in
our children as when they are on their own in this big wide world we need to
know that they are acting safely and appropriately. The other side to this is that they realize
the seriousness of education and that knuckling down and achieving good grades
will turn into results when they are older. This in itself can be a massive battle. You find that you are always convincing them to study and monitoring
outside activities. Here you will
encounter all sorts of arguments and reasons, just keep calm and approach the
situation with the angle of friendship as well as being the parent. In the end more respect will be given.
